WASHINGTON, DC – Senator Jay Rockefeller today released the following statement after the U.S. Chemical Safety Board announced that it would launch a formal investigation into the Freedom Industries chemical spill.
“I’m pleased the Chemical Safety Board responded so quickly to my request for a formal investigation into the Freedom Industries chemical spill. I learned this afternoon that a team from the agency will arrive on Monday to help us get to the bottom of what led to this terrible incident that has disrupted the clean water supply for hundreds of thousands of West Virginians. I remain committed to keeping those affected safe and secure, and making sure corrective actions are taken so this does not happen again.”
The announcement comes after Rockefeller wrote a letter to CSB urging them to investigate the spill, which left hundreds of thousands of West Virginians without access to clean water. Click here for a copy of the Senator’s letter.
